"Leading Ladies" Tickets on sale NOW!

January 19, 2010
Anyone familiar with the plays of Ken Ludwig ("Moon Over Buffalo," "Lend Me a Tenor") will not want to miss the Whole Backstage Theatre’s production of “Leading Ladies”.

Set in Ludwig's own hometown of York, Penn., "Leading Ladies" is the story of English stage actors Leo Clark (Chris Harper) and Jack Gable (Christopher Carter), whose fortunes have declined to the point that their bread and butter is performing a mishmash of Shakespearean scenes for Elk and Moose club members up and down the Eastern seaboard.

Fortune smiles when the duo learns that a wealthy York dowager, Florence (Jennice Floyd), is searching for two long-lost Engish relations with whom she can share her estate. Complications ensue when Leo falls in love with Meg (Melissa Lawler). Also complicating matters is Meg's suspicious fiance, the greedy parson Duncan (Dan Lueker). Kayla Harper is affectionately dim as the roller-skating waitress Audrey. And Jackson Moss is in the role of Butch, Audrey's boyfriend. Byron Waldrop, plays the role of Florence's physician, Doc. Burnett.

“Leading Ladies” is directed by Jim Peterson and tickets go on sale to the general public, Monday January 25. Patron tickets are currently available. The show runs February 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20 at 7p.m. and February 14 and 21 at 2:00p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Whole Backstage Theatre 1120 Rayburn Avenue, in Guntersville or by credit card via phone at 256-582-7469.
