Old Huntsville Road Home
Heavily Damaged By Fire
Sunday, March 18, 2012 Arab firefighters responded to a fire that caused heavy damage to a home at 1823 Old Huntsville Road just before noon on Sunday. The home is owned by Donna Perkins. She was home when the fire started. Perkins, who tried to extinguish the flames, was not burned but was overcome by the situation and was transported to Marshall Medical Center North. She was later admitted for observation. Firefighters were called back to the scene around 3:30 pm after the fire re-kindled.
Although the cause of the fire has not been officially determined, the fire may have started from some papers that were stored near a heater with an open flame pilot light.
