Pens Novels

Arab author David Myers has completed two novels. The first, Page Thirteen - The Book is available in print and ebook versions. Page Thirteen - Chief was recently released in ebook format..

Page Thirteen - The Book

The idea of the Arabian Knights winning a state football title could soon become a reality, at least in the world of literature. A novel by local author David A. Myers, just released by Lulu.com Publishing, has the Knights in the hunt for the state title, provided a core group of star players can survive face-to-face confrontations with some of the worst villains society has to offer.Myers’s novel, Page Thirteen – The Book, is available from Lulu.com in print, and Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com as an eBook.

The story centers on quarterback Jimmy Mason, a highly touted senior leading a strong Arabian Knights squad. Jimmy and a close-knit group of players find themselves in the position of having to balance a championship run with a decision to intervene in the fate of a close friend. They quickly discover that there’s a rough world beyond the city limits and it’s imposing itself on the peaceful and serene community of Arab.

Page Thirteen - Chief

The measure of a man's life is determined at the end of his road. This novel is a snapshot out of the days, and a glimpse into the heart of Eddie "Chief" Parfait, a man familiar with life on the edge. Chief's story started in old Jefferson, a rough area between the Mississippi River and the railroad yard. He finally found his peace on Snider's Bayou, where his road eventually ran full circle.

David Myers is a long term Marshall County resident who hails from New Orleans. He’s a former boxer, teamster, riverboat deckhand, ironworker and U.S. Marine. He returned to school following his Marine Corps stint and received a degree in Computer Science from Delgado College, New Orleans in 1987. He currently works under contract to NASA at MSFC. David and his wife, the former Rose Albright of Arab, visit New Orleans frequently.

“I’ve come to really enjoy writing fiction. I like to think that I can take places I’ve been and love and make them part of the literary record. In the case of - The Book, good ole Arab and Guntersville show up big, along with my old neighborhood in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, and New Orleans. In my next one, which I’m close to finishing, the focus shifts to the bayou of south Louisiana. That’ll be a good one.” - Myers

The print version of Page Thirteen – The Book is produced by Lulu.com Publishing. An “author’s edition”, in trade format, is now available at the Lulu website. Lulu will start distributing print copies through Amazon and B&N soon. For Kindle users an eBook in already available for download through Amazon. For Nook and other eBook Readers, the book in “ePub” format is available from Barnes and Noble. Links to the three sites are listed at pagethirteenthebook.com. Autographed copies can be obtained through the author via this site.

“I hope people enjoy the work. It was fun writing it and I hope reading it is just as much fun. Be sure to watch for my next novel, Page Thirteen – Chief.” - Myers
