Scarbrough also won the "Spirit of Junior Miss" title, the overall self-expression, overall scholastic, and was runner-up in the overall fitness category. Mary Katherine is the daughter of Freida and Alan Scarbrough. She plans to attend Birmingham Southern and pursue an English degree. Mary Katherine is a home school student. She is a captain of the Kohl Academy Dance Extensions, is involved in the KAPA teacher training program as an assistant and substitute teacher. She is involved in the Arab First Baptist Church Youth Group. She is actively involved with the Whole Backstage Community Theatre. As her talent routine Mary Katherine performed a lyrical dance to "Faith" by Jordan Sparks. Three other Arab girls won scholarships during the competition. Laura Leigh Hollaway, won 1st Runner-up, overall talent, and was runner-up in the overall self-expression competition. Laura Leigh attends Arab High School and is the daughter of Tonja and Dewayne Hollaway. She plans to attend Samford University and pursue a career as a pediatrician oncologist. For her talent competition Laura Leigh performed a pointe dance to "Via del a Rosa" by Sandi Patti. She is a member of the Arab High School Beta Club and the Marshall County Youth Leadership Council. She is a co-captain of the Arab High School Danceline and is a Business Procedures regional winner for FBLA and won a Gold Medal as a member of the HOSA Medical Reading team. Lindsey Kate Elrod won the overall fitness competition. Lindsey attends Arab High School and is the daughter of Tina and John Elrod. She plans to attend the University of Alabama with studies in the medical field. Lindsey performed "I'll Stand By You" by Carrie Underwood. Lindsey is a member of the Arab High School Tennis team and was a 5-A Girls Singles Finalist. She is also a member of the AHS Danceline, National Beta Club, Spanish National Honor Society and received the 2010 Marshall County Scholar Athletes Award. Leilani Victoria Hayes won the "Be Your Best Self Essay" competition. Leilani is the daughter of Gayla and Dwight Hayes. Leilani plans to attend the University of Montevallo. She plans to study English and theatre. Leilani is a home school student with Covenant Christian Academy. For her talent she performed the vocal "Worse Things I Could Do" from Grease. She is actively involved with the Whole Backstage Community Theatre, assists with the WBS Children's Theatre, and Covenant Christian Academy Drama team. 2nd Runner-up went to Haley Marie Miller. Haley attends Douglas High School and is the daughter of Lisa and Michael Miller. She plans to attend either Troy University or the University of Alabama and pursue a career as a secondary education English teacher. Haley is a Douglas High School dance line captain for three years, member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Douglas High School track team. She received the Marshall County Scholar Athlete's Award. For the talent competition she performed a Hip Hop dance - contemporary mix of "Super Nova" by Mr. Hudson. Overall Scholastic runner-up was Sara Elizabeth Woodard. Sara attends Guntersville High School and is the daughter of Louann and Danny Woodard. She plans to attend the University of Alabama and pursue a MBA and law degree. Sara performed a vocal / jazz dance routine of "I Got Rhythm". She is a member of the National Honor Society, Marshall County Youth Leadership Council, University of Alabama Leadership Academy 2010 and University of Alabama Capstone Summer Honors 2010. Elizabeth Nicole Shaw was the Overall Talent runner-up. Elizabeth attends Douglas High School and is the daughter of Angela Ward and Patrick Shaw. She plans to attend Troy University and pursue a goal of becoming a college professor. Elizabeth performed a lyrical / flag routine called "Color Blind" by The Counting Crows. Elizabeth is the Douglas High School Drum Major, is a member of the Marshall County Youth Leadership Council, the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Junior Honor Marshall.
