Arab firefighters responded to a fire at the Jameson Inn around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday morning. The occupants of room 117 told fireighters and police that they were in the process of moving out and had left the room for approximately 60-90 minutes and returned to find the room filled with smoke. Firefighters pulled a burning mattress from the room. Arab Fire Chief Ricky Phillips said he believes the fire started from a cigarette on one of the beds.
The fire was extinguished quickly by Arab Fire & Rescue personnel. The room received moderate heat and smoke damage. There were no injuries during the incident. No other rooms or guests were affected by the fire.
