Marshall County has a new
Junior Miss. Shelby Lauren Cochran, of Albertville,
took the top honor during the annual competition held at
the Snead State Junior College Bevill Center Saturday night.
She also won the Be Your Best Self Essay, overall Fitness,
overall scholastic, and overall talent portions of the
program.
Shelby will be a
senior at Albertville High School in the fall. She is
the daughter of Wendi and Tony Cochran and plans to attend
the University of Alabama. Shelby
is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Albertville High School
Southern Stars Dance Line, Albertville Show Choir Centerstage, University of Alabama Capstone Leadership
Academy. Shelby's career goals are radiology,
dentistry, accounting, or education.
Chelsea Leigh Green, of Arab,
was named First Runner-up. Chelsea will be a senior at
Arab High School and is the daughter of Tina and Lance
Green. After graduation Chelsea plans to attend either
the University of South Alabama or Montevallo University.
Chelsea is active in the Arab Musical Theatre and has held
the roles of Robin in the production of "Godspell", Crystal
in the "Little Shop of Horrors" musical, and Millie in the
"Thoroughly Modern Millie" musical. She is an Arab
High School Varsity Cheerleader and was named the Universal
Cheerleading Association "Best Flier". She would like
to be a voice coach and secondary education English teacher.
Second Runner-up honors and
Overall Self Expression went to
Mary Dea Covington of Guntersville. Mary Dea is a
senior at Guntersville High School and is the daughter of
Julia and Reese Covington. She plans to attend either
Auburn or Belmont University to become a fashion journalist.
Mary Dea is a member of the National Honor Society, Marshall
County Leadership, Academic Top Five, Kohl Academy of
Performing Arts Elite Company Member, the Alabama All-State
Show Choir, and SSA Choir Member.

The Spirit
of Junior Miss award went to Kacie Lashan
McClendon of Asbury High School. Kacie
is the daughter of Delisa and Bobby
McClendon. She plans to attend Snead
State Community College and the University
Of Alabama Huntsville. Her career
goals are to become a pharmacist.
Kacie is a member of, the National Honor
Society, Asbury Scholar's Bowl, Jacksonville
State University Emergin Leaders. She
is a varsity cheerleader and plays varsity
volleyball.
Carley
Hallman was the winner of the Fan Club
competition. Carley is a senior at
Arab High School and is the daughter of
Timothy Hallman and Robin and Larry
Chrestman. She plans to attend the
University of Alabama and to pursue a degree
in either nursing or elementary education.
She is a member of the Beta Club, Spanish
National Honor Society, and the National
HOSA Medical Readin Team. She is a
varsity cheerleader and was a Arab Lady
Knights Tennis Sectional Finalist.
