A little friendly competition
added 20 units of badly needed blood to the North Alabama supply
last week. Dubbed the Guns and Hoses Blood Drive,
members of the Arab Police and Fire Departments competed to see
who could recruit the most donors.
A total of 27
potential donors netted 20 units of badly need blood to help
with the perennial summer shortage. Blood donations
typically fall off during the summer months, a time when needs
rise because of injuries and accidents.
15 donors signed up as APD donors and 12 signed up as AFR
donors.
