A two vehicle accident on South Brindlee Mountain Parkway near the Arab Electric Co-op blocked traffic for almost an hour Wednesday afternoon.  Two victims from the wreck were flown to Huntsville Hospital.  A female passenger in a Plymouth mini-van driven by Joey Maze was transported by Huntsville Hospital's MedFlight helicopter and the driver of an overturned pickup truck was transported by the Air-Evac Lifeteam helicopter based in Cullman.  According to Arab Fire Rescue officials, both patients suffered potentially serious injuries although they did not appear life threatening.

Several other passengers of the mini-van were treated on-scene and transported by ground to Marshall Medical Center and Huntsville Hospital by Marshall Health System and Samaritan ambulances, while two patients went to Marshall Medical Center North by private car.

Emergency response personnel from Arab Fire & Rescue, Marshall Health System, Samaritan EMS, Arab Rescue Squad, Arab Police, and the two helicopter units responded to the accident that occurred around 4 pm.  Arab Police and Arab Rescue Squad assisted on scene with patient treatment, traffic control and set-up of the helicopter landing zone.  Arab Fire Chief Ricky Phillips said, "The professionalism of the various agencies that responded proved to be extremely valuable in the quick treatment and transport of all the patients."

Arab Police are investigating the accident.
